The State of Texas Attorney General Files Lawsuit Against Tylenol Producers Concerning Autism Spectrum Claims

Judicial Case
The Texas Attorney General, a Trump ally who is running for US Senate, claimed the drug companies of concealing safety concerns of acetaminophen

The top legal official in Texas Paxton is taking legal action against the producers of Tylenol, alleging the firms concealed potential risks that the pain reliever presented to pediatric cognitive development.

The lawsuit follows four weeks after Donald Trump publicized an unsubstantiated connection between consuming Tylenol - alternatively called paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism in offspring.

Paxton is taking legal action against Johnson & Johnson, which formerly manufactured the medication, the only pain reliever approved for expectant mothers, and Kenvue, which now manufacturers it.

In a statement, he claimed they "betrayed America by gaining financially from discomfort and pushing pills ignoring the dangers."

The manufacturer states there is lacking scientific proof linking Tylenol to autism spectrum disorder.

"These corporations misled for generations, deliberately risking countless individuals to line their pockets," Paxton, from the Republican party, declared.

The manufacturer stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the dissemination of inaccurate information on the security of paracetamol and the possible consequences that could have on the health of women and children in America."

On its official site, Kenvue also said it had "continuously evaluated the applicable studies and there is no credible data that shows a verified association between taking acetaminophen and autism."

Associations representing physicians and medical practitioners share this view.

The leading OB-GYN organization has said acetaminophen - the primary component in Tylenol - is among limited choices for women during pregnancy to address pain and fever, which can create significant medical dangers if not addressed.

"In over twenty years of investigation on the use of acetaminophen in pregnancy, no reliable research has successfully concluded that the usage of acetaminophen in any period of pregnancy causes neurological conditions in young ones," the organization said.

The court filing cites current declarations from the former administration in asserting the drug is reportedly hazardous.

In recent weeks, Trump caused concern from medical authorities when he instructed women during pregnancy to "fight like hell" not to consume acetaminophen when sick.

Federal regulators then published an announcement that medical professionals should contemplate reducing the use of Tylenol, while also declaring that "a direct connection" between the medication and autism spectrum disorder in children has not been established.

The Health Department head RFK Jr, who oversees the FDA, had vowed in April to undertake "extensive scientific investigation" that would establish the source of autism in a limited time.

But experts advised that discovering a unique factor of autism spectrum disorder - believed by scientists to be the outcome of a complicated interplay of inherited and external influences - would prove challenging.

Autism is a form of enduring cognitive variation and impairment that impacts how people perceive and interact with the environment, and is diagnosed using medical professional evaluations.

In his court filing, Paxton - who supports Trump who is running for the Senate - asserts the manufacturer and J&J "intentionally overlooked and tried to quiet the evidence" around paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder.

The case seeks to make the corporations "eliminate any promotional materials" that states acetaminophen is safe for pregnant women.

This legal action echoes the complaints of a assembly of guardians of children with autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who took legal action against the manufacturers of Tylenol in recently.

Judicial authorities dismissed the lawsuit, declaring research from the family's specialists was inconclusive.
