Palestinian-American Adolescent Released After Nine Months in Israeli Imprisonment

A Palestinian-American teenager after completing nine months in imprisonment by Israel without being charged has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 when he was arrested this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, during a family visit on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

United States authorities applauded Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Through an official statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "immense relief".

Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, our priority is providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he requires after experiencing Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions over several months."

The state department announced ongoing to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"US government authorities gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," it added.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to the state department and the administration, requesting additional efforts to release him.

The father, with four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

There were no visits or spoken to Mohammed since February, receiving updates exclusively about his son's condition through judicial records.

The teenager remained absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.

It is also home to adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences and murder.

Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, and international organizations, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

Subsequent to his liberation, family representatives announced relatives would persist in advocating for justice for his cousin their cousin Sayfollah.

The dual national youth according to health authorities died from beating by Israeli settlers following tensions in July.

At the time, the Israeli military said officials were investigating accounts of a Palestinian was deceased.

Mohammed and Sayfollah had worked together within the family's frozen treats establishment from Tampa.

No indictments occurred regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We demand United States leadership to protect our families," Mr Kadur said.
