Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their roles in the latest Hunger Games instalment, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
An Important Comeback for the Franchise
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their cameos will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This marks the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's events are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several accomplished actors in key parts:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.
